Laurence Junh-Hee Steenbergen was born on March 11th, 1975 in Busan, South Korea. She was then adopted and grew up in ‘s Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. Throughout her childhood she was always interested in creative activities such as sketching and story writing. At the age of 8 she purchased her first camera. Laurence passed through school with great ease and continued on at university.
After participating in a career choice test it was certain that the creative path was the right choice for Laurence. However, she didn’t dare to follow that path, as there was no certainty as only a few are successful enough to make living out of it. Her passion for creativity kept stirring in her mind during her studies and her work as a freelance photographer made her to take artistic painting lessons. From time to time she would also work as a freelance writer. In 2010 Laurence was bold enough to send her portfolio to a New York art gallery. This gallery invited Laurence to have her first expositions.
